It depends but most of the time you gotta jump at WOT (wide open throttle body), if you break and compress the front suspension the car will nose dive unless its an Mid or rear engine car like a Porsche.
This was a freak one in a lifetime thing happening, probably due to a weird road surface, car imbalance or a wind current

Each driver hits the brake before taking off, I've watched some comparisons between Loeb/Burns and Colin on the other side. Every driver who doesn't brake looses some time because he is not accelerating

I was there to see the jump live.
Everithing has to do with the speed.
All the drivers without Novikov was doing a little brake or lift from the trottel just on the crest.

I think their is something rong with his car. I've seen others of his jumps and it lifts the front the some way.
